Would you like more space to grow your own food?

Interested in getting Church Lane allotments back into use?

The large, disused Church Lane allotment site is near Kirkstall St Stephen’s Church and Headingley station, and accessible from Queenswood Drive.

To get these allotments back into use, we need people to get involved in clearing, securing and managing the site, and we need people to register their interest in renting a plot. Obviously, the nearer people live (or work) to the site the better.

We have already distributed some sign-up sheets, and there has been considerable interest from residents in the local area, so it does look as if this is a viable project. We will be looking into funding to help with fencing, tools/machinery etc, and possible skill-sharing projects.

There will be a meeting for everyone interested, on

Sunday, 22nd August, at 1pm, at the Queenswood Social Club on Queenswood Drive. Everyone is welcome to attend.

If you can’t make the meeting, it would be great if you could contact us to register your interest and let us have an email address and/or a phone number, so that we can keep you informed.

You can also contact us to find out more:
Phone Ellen on 0113 3681999 or 07930 966205

Or email Ellen at ellenrobottom@hotmail.com

Please say you’ll join yoga society if you’re interested!

Hi everyone,

I’m applying to start a new yoga society, and I need to submit a petition with 20 signatures of students who would join the society if it started. I know lots of people would be interested, but I can’t name 20 at the moment! It would be great to get the society up and running before freshers’ week, so I’d much appreciate if you’d take the time to sign the form or forward this to interested people.. To sign please email me (d.psarra@leeds.ac.uk) so we can arrange a time and place when I can bring it over. Staff can’t sign the petition, unless you also/still have a student ID (although staff and non-university people will be able to join).

I can email you with more information on what I think it could be like if you’re interested, although some of it is pretty obvious (yoga classes and workshops/retreats) and some of it will depend on how many people join/what they’d like to do..!

Thanks,

Despina

Radical Routes Summer Gathering 2010

Green Action is a member of Radical Routes.  This is an opertunaty to meet many other co-op activists who live in housing co-ops, run social centers e.t.c.  They offer workshops to train you in finance, facilitation, fun….  If you are thinking of doing anything vaguely radical then this is the place to get inspired.

This is the quarterly gathering of the network of co-operative groups, promoting alternative ways of working & living, to be held at Crabapple, near Shrewsbury.

Four times a year, the member co-ops get together at "gatherings". These weekend events have a social function, but are also the places at which all important decisions are taken. They are open meetings and anyone is welcome to attend.
